This arch bridge in Purmerend, the Netherlands in order to connect the historic city center of new neighborhoods.

At 12 metres, this arch is high enough to allow boats to pass beneath and the lower deck splits into two parts that revolve open when boats are approaching.

Designed by Dutch studios NEXT Architects and Rietveld Landscape, began planning the bridge in 2007 and recently completed the project in October of 2012.

The Butchart Gardens receive over a million visitors each year due to the uniqueness of their floral display gardens.

Robert Pim Butchart (1856–1943) began manufacturing Portland cement in 1888 near his birthplace of Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada. He and his wife Jennie Butchart (1866–1950) came to the west coast of Canada because of rich limestone deposits necessary for cement production.
